I was using most of my time writing my Personal statement, preparing my application and getting the list of all the programs I want to apply to in addition preparing the Letters of Recommendation and the MSPE. Originally I planned to do step 2 at the end of Ramadan which was around 16 of September. Most of the day you lack the energy to concentrate on studying because of your empty tummy, and during the night you are too busy with family, eating and social issues. If you have a family and live in the middle east, it is next to impossible to do any meaningful study in Ramadan. After three weeks and after I got my Step 1 score, Ramadan started. I was too tired from that, and I could barely concentrate on studying for step 2 when my Step 1 score was not released. The ideal situation is to get done with everything on your own pace before September first to apply for that season. It was a risky attempt for sure, and I do not recommend it. At the same time I could not spend 6 months to study for this because I would miss the season. I was honestly not looking for the score that I got on Step 2, but for a decent above 90 score that could keep me going on the interviews this season. I had to balance between time and a good score. I had to Apply in late September for interviews, and I had to worry about studying Step 2 in time for it to be relevant for the 2010 match season. If you wish to read about my background and my path up until I finished Step1 read here:īefore I proceed, I would just like to remind you that this preparation is a custom experience that was the culmination of a lot of different issues at the same time. I completed my Step 2 exam on November 11 2009.
